Chelsea star Victor Moses has said that Ross Barkley is the best player recently in training sessions. The former Everton man had an underwhelming last season and is keen on his career picking up once again. He was on the sidelines for a hamstring injury and then he struggled for game time under former coach Antonio Conte when he finally left Goodison Park.
The England international has been picking up crucial minutes of action so far under coach Maurizio Sarri. He played in the Community Shield game against Manchester City even though the Blues lost 2-0. He featured in the first two games against Arsenal and Huddersfield in starting roles. He played from the bench in the victory against Newcastle, and could yet get the nod in the weekend fixture against Bournemouth.
Moses said the player is the best in training in recent times, putting in a lot of hard work. So far the player has been getting fair game time even with other stars groaning for attention. If it continues this way, Barkley could play a major part for Chelsea this season. His career was supposed to move to another level when he decided to leave his boyhood club Everton. The move to Chelsea was drawn out, and he didn’t leave until the winter break.
Hopefully Barkley does not pick up an injury, and then the winning spell does not end else Sarri would be too quick to switch things up. There are Danny Drinkwater and Ruben Loftus Cheek still hoping to get some minutes in the middle. So far, Barkley and Mateo Kovacic have been getting all the shots. Maybe Barkley is doing well in training and on the pitch, maybe it’s his time to shine in a Blues jersey.
