Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has said that the 6-1 victory over Brighton in the fifth round of the FA Cup was one of the perfect preparations for the Carling cup final against Cardiff city during the weekend. Liverpool will be making their first appearance at the new Wembley, while the same applies for Steven Gerrard as well. Despite the fact that Steven Gerrard has played for England at this new Wembley numerous times, the Liverpool captain has said that it will be extremely special to lead his teammates out onto the pitch. The Carling cup final will be against Championship side Cardiff city after Liverpool made it into the final beating Manchester City in the semifinals.
A number of players were on the score sheet for Liverpool in the match against Brighton. This will come as a major relief for Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish, who has come under intense pressure of late due to the failure of his side in getting results in the Premier league of late. Liverpool recently lost their Premier league match against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Kenny Dalglish will have been extremely happy about the way in which Liverpool took their chances, with Andy Carroll also getting on the score sheet as well.
“It’s nice to win convincingly – it’s perfect before Wembley next week. It’ll be fantastic for the supporters if we can beat Stoke and take them to Wembley for the second time this season,” Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard said after the match. Liverpool have been drawn against Stoke city for the quarter finals of the FA Cup. The match will be taking place at Anfield, and Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish could not have asked for better tie. Stoke city have a number of commitments – including European – this season.
